Tennis club elfershausen celebrates anniversary and successes

During the foundation period, the TC elfers hausen had found its role models in steffi graf and boris becker. FC chairman thomas bauer mentioned “the positively perceived youth work and the harmonious cooperation with the main club.”. “The dream of having our own indoor tennis court doesn’t have to stay that way”, he encouraged. Nevertheless, it could still be a long way until the wish is fulfilled.

Recognition and thanks went to the founding members who “got the ball rolling a quarter of a century ago”. Betz praised sven kuhn, roland full, simone, ursula and jurgen englert as well as marianne and jurgen berger with words of praise and a gift. Jurgen berger received a special award: the TC elfers hausen named him an honorary member.

Berger is considered a “man for all situations. He has earned numerous merits in the club. Berger was an assessor on the board, groundskeeper and co-organizer of the TC camps. When a helper is needed, he is still on hand, for example at the bratwurst barbecue.

It took a while for the players of the tennis club to get going after the foundation was laid. Because the places had to be built. But then work gave way to sport. Founding member linda buttler-goos recalled that time: “because of the rush, an admission stop had to be made in the club.” She herself had only signed up to be inside for the time being.

“Eight years ago, just as i was about to hand in my resignation, a new coach came and i started playing”, said buttler-goos. She is one of the all-rounders in the tennis club, and has made herself available as secretary, committee member and press officer.

Buttler-goos described gerd neder’s era as a high point “in which there were many events and targeted youth and children’s training under jurgen straub” gave. “Today, there is good cooperation within the department and with the main club. The active athletes are also committed,”, she noted with satisfaction. The TC plays with two men’s and one women’s team in the points competition. The ladies won the championship twice in a row.
